Wireless communication plays an important role in remote data reading and transferring systems because it has an advantage of taking less room and simple installation. More and more communication systems transfer data by wireless communication.Compared with GPRS net, the CDMA2000 lx net supplies wider net, support mobile IP, tends to be compatible with IPV6 and it has high security. CDMA2000 lx net has more capacity and average transferring rates. Because of its good performance electronic power system uses CDMA2000 lx net to transfer data and surveils power consumption locale.The remote reading meter and picture surveillance system based on CDMA can read meter automatically, can get picture from camera and compress picture in JPEG format. The reading meter system connects to the server By TCP, UDP, SMS used CDMA module. Because of the advantage of the remote reading meter and picture surveillance system, it is very useful to make use of the system in remote or dangerous power consumption locale.This paper specifies how to design the remote reading meter and picture surveillance system. At first, this paper introduces JPEG compression, and proposes a method of DCT which is fit for embedded system. The method sacrifices space for time. This paper proposes faster JPEG compression based on the method. Second this paper introduces dynamic Huffman code and improves this arithmetic. The improved code is applied in power data compression. At last this paper introduces how to design USB mass storage device using USB device controller of S3C2410 and nand flash.
