Internet Rumors Spread Of Research

This paper describes both the process and characteristics of communication and distortion ofinternet rumors. Qualitative methodologies like analysis of documents and case study are used inthis article. The internet rumors caused by the domain name of SINA are cited as cases to beanalyzed. It comes to a conclusion that compared to the rumors transmitted through other mediasuch as the face-to-face ones, the internet rumors are also closely related with personal interestsand current events. And the embedding process, including leveling, sharpening and assimilation,which has been considered a classical standpoint in rumor research, is also applicable to internetrumors. And internet rumors can be regarded as some kind of collective behavior too. Still theinternet rumors have their own features since the internet is widely used as a new electronic media.The asynchronous of internet communication makes it possible to send and receive the rumors atdifferent moments.
