In recent years, along with the rapid development of military, civil mobile communication and person-to-person communication technology, all kinds of communication systems apply widely and develop day after day. They met various increasing aspects such as volume, function, power loss and so on.In the military domain, systems such as videophone based on broadcasting station, picture guided weapon system, battlefield situation sensation etc. all needs take the picture gain, processing, transmission, graphic display device as the foundation. In civil domain, systems like based on ADSL, LAN system and so on videophone, 3G multimedia communications system, picture monitoring, also similarly take the picture processing platform as the foundation. At present in the market this kind of correspondence product all respectively has the characteristic, in view of different market localization and customer groups. But all cannot satisfy the request in military domain. Therefore, The article proposes one multimedia terminal system that has the function of gaining, processing and display of voice, data and picture and introduces how realizes this kind of multimedia terminal system.Chapter one briefly analyzed the market present situation and the broad market application prospect of the multimedia terminal device and the relevant several kinds of products, and proposed each target to realize system according to the actual market demand we had.Chapter two introduces mainly the interfaces and the standards which must involved in includes the television standard, the video hardware interface.Chapter three introduced how we act according to each target, choose the appropriate hardware structure, the code standard, the main chips, the operating system and so on.Chapter four introduces the H.264 compression standard.Chapter five is the systematic concrete realization that introduces realization details of three main modules of this system and some moreover also introduced partial did in DSP some realizations and optimized work.Chapter six summarized the characteristic and the application of the multimedia terminal system system.
