Reliability engineering originates in the research of equipment's uncertainty with the time because of the damage rate of the electronic equipment. As a new emergencing engineering course, it has become the important index to measure the quality of products. It is particularly important in the aeronautical products.Reliability engineering includes the reliability prediction, fault tree analysis and so on. With the spaceborne synthetic aperture radar being development in china, this thesis explains the basic principle of the working of the SAR and the importance of the reliability. On the basis of the introduction of the reliability prediction and fault tree analysis, we divided the monitor and control computer and timer, then constitute the reliability model for them. I concentrate my research work towards the reliability prediction and fault tree analysis of the two systems of the Radar. Raliability is the key of the transferation of the qualitative analysis to the quantitative analysis and is also the basis of the implementation of the reliability engineering. I apply the component-enumerative prediction and stress analysis which are suitable for the electronic equipments and compare the two prediction results. In the stress analysis, the shortcomings of the design are found and improved.Fault tree analysis is one of the instruments to analyse the reliability and security of the aeronautical products.On the basis of the quantitative analysis after the construction of the fault tree, the fault tree analysis can know the system and dangerous factors and find the shortcomings of the reliability and security. It can also calculate the importance of the part and give the measurements to increase the reliability.So the reliability can be improved.After the reliability prediction and fault tree analysis, I also give my own opinion of the reliability designation to avoid the shortcomings of the system so as to contribute to the reliable 3-year run of the Radar.
