The Wireless Measuring network is developed by ITURAN Co., LTD, Israel and the system is designed for location of mobile units and two ways data communication. It's a new advanced system of wireless location and communication based on special network like GPS. Currently it is widely used in intelligence transportation system (ITS), Highway Management and Digital City in Israel, USA and Brazil. Using self-established bases and adopting U-DTOA technique, it is a real time terrestrial location and monitoring system for efficient Vehicles, People and Cargo management. The location link is a direct sequence, spread spectrum signal. It may take place of GPS in terrestrial location. Combining the map to related bases, the system may be applied in LBS and will have profound influence upon the theory and technology of LBS. Now, Shanghai government is preparing the foundation facilities work of wireless measuring network, and this thesis is just a pre-research based on that background.The thesis firstly explained the development status of ITS, analyzed the location and communication technology of wireless data transmission and the currently application technology of vehicle navigation system, deeply researched the location and communication theory of wireless measuring network and carry on the discuss of it's main application realm—basic configuration, main function and realizing way of ITS. After analyzed the currently vehicle terminal based on GPS+GSM/CDMA location and communication technology, put forward the design project of vehicle navigation terminal system based on wireless measuring network, take up the design and research of vehicle terminal based on wireless measuring network, Constructed the navigation and location vehicle device based on wireless measuring network, and carried out the basic function of network control center on the computer. Compared to the traditional location and communication technology, such as GPS+GSM, GPS+CDMA, the vehical navigation system based on wireless measuring network is a new achievement in ITS.Due to the location and communication platform adopting wireless measuring network to transfer data, make the position and communication information can be transmitted on real-time and accurately, have better advantage, merit and application prospect compared with the traditional one.The thesis completed the study work of the vehicle sample device of navigation and location system and realized the basic function of vehicle terminal. Under the condition of current experiment, pay more attention to the hardware selection and completed the hardware circuit design. While considering of the system safety as well as the real-time performance, take up the software design, try hard to make the software optimization.
