Video Vehicle Detection Technology Application And Development

The traffic surveillance is one of the importance applications in Intelligent Transportation System. It surveys the flow of vehicle traffic; collect all parameter of the traffic flow, for example capacity, speed, vehicle type, and queue time and queue extent. The suitable technologies of vehicle detection play the important role in the traffic surveillance.Video vehicle detection system is a computer processing system which uses image processing technology to detect the traffic flow. It is the goal, which can detect, confirm the position, recognize, track, analysis the traffic behavior of vehicle and the people from analyze the image. Video vehicle detection system can not only collect complete traffic flow parameter but also assist the traffic management and control, and really achieve the intellectualized traffic management.For decreasing influence to the image quality, we should percolate through the yawp before the image processing. Vehicle reorganization has three step: image segmentation, vehicle tracking and vehicle classification. The segmentation of moving objects uses a method of frame image difference. Background image can be acquired through image sequence, make a difference between the currently image and background image. Next swell the image contrast. Try to procure the suitable contrast threshold by using the method of the smallest wrong probability. Moving objects would be segmented by analyzing images based on the contrast threshold. For decreasing counting, we use matching character to track the object. Toward the vehicle classification, we use the method of matching 3-D model projection in the image with vehicle brink.The article discusses the principle of video vehicle detection technology. We check up the effect through its application in Fuxing East Road Tunnel.There are two else traditional method of vehicle detection: the ring loop detection and microwave detection. The advantages and shortcomings of different methods are compared.
