With the development of society and economy,the traffic system became more and more complex. In the interest of providing the management of traffic system with real-time traffic information to achieve efficient management and make full use of the traffic system,we investigate the Traffic Information Analysis System based on Video and Image Processing techniques.We design the Embedded System based on DSP chips. The Image Acquisition Card captured images and send them into the embedded image processing system mainly consist of DSP,CPU,ram,and a Linux Operation system,in which the software part the system calculates information of the traffic,such as the speed of the vehicles,their types,the volume of flow,the traffic density,the waiting length of the lanes,the turning information of the vehicles,and so on. The hardware part manages the system,compresses the images and sends them to be shown on the monitors. It also sends the traffic information onto the network;when there is an exception happens,like a accident,a image sequence recording the process of the accident will also be sent onto the network,which will help to solve the problem.In software part,image processing software based on Visual C++ is investigated firstly separate from hardware design. Vehicle detection,vehicle segmentation,object tracking and traffic information analysis are the main algorithm in research. In order solve the disturbing problems in traffic information extraction,lightening condition correction,shadow detection,background disturb statistic and segmentation of images,and vehicle tracking optimization algorithms are investigated.
