As the "Third Generation Internet ", Grid is a supercomputer that synthesizes the entire Internet toshare all the computation resources, the memory resources, the data resources, the information resource, the knowledge resources, and the expert resources. The Grid's goal is to realize resources efficientlysharing, therefore, the resource management is the core problem in the Grid, including the resourcesorganization, localization and assignment, as well as creating process and other related problems. In theGrid, the resources is distributed, heterogenous and dynamic, this causes the resource managementexceptionally complex in the Grid environment. At present, research of Grid resource managementincludes two aspects, models and products. But it can't meet the requirement of the Grid applications. It is often the case in the Grid that an application requires multiple resources of different types to beallocated simultaneously. The Grid resource co-allocation problem is then produces under suchbackground. The Grid special environment has brought some challenge questions to the resourceco-allocation problem: Grid applications typically operate on ensembles of resources that spanadministrative domains of control, with resources in the ensemble being independently operated.Furthermore, access to resources is in general unreliable, due to either competing demands for theresource or outright failure. So it needs one kind of special mechanism to co-allocate the resources, andstarts the computation on these resources, as well as monitors and manages these computations.Solving the Grid resource co-allocation problem can effectively enhance the gird resource utilance. But at present, the research about this problem is very few, therefore the research of the Grid resourcemanagement system and the resources co-allocation has much to do with the development of Grid. The major research works and initiative points in this dissertation are:Firstly, in this dissertation, we summarizing the researching status of the Grid technology, andanalyzing the research trend of the Grid resource management and the resource co-allocation at present.Secondly, in this dissertation, we designing a hierachical resource management model whichsupports the resources co-allocation, and discussing in detail about the resources organization, thedescription, the maintenance, as well as how to realize the resources co-allocation in this model .Thirdly, in this dissertation, we proposing a algorithm of Grid resource co-scheduling namedRB-OT, in view of the Grid characteristic, introducing the resource reservation mechanism to guaranteethe success of resources co-allocation, and joining the technologies of backfill, priority, simultaneouslyconsidering the request proposed by the users about the QoS, such as the deadline, budget whenallocates resources for the tasks. Finally, in order to evaluate our algorithm, several Grid emulators are illustrated in this dissertation, and GridSim, a Grid modeling and emulation toolkit, is chosen to emulate our algorithm. Theexperiment results show that the algorithm present in this dissertation is feasible, and it improves theperformance of Grid.
