Overspeed driving is one of causes to lead to traffic accident. Velocity-radar is a main way to detect the over-speed. At present, almost all velocity-radar systems take count of pulse number and distinguish frequency to detect the speed of cars. This way has the faults, which are low test precision, complex circuits, simple measurement function and etc. These problems limit the applications of the way of count-pulse distinguishing frequency. To overcome these problems, we design a mobile velocity-radar system based on digital signal processor (DSP).This system adopt a main-subordinate structure with a Flash Programming System Parts (PSD) as a mainframe and a DSP as a subordinate chip. We can extract the speed of cars by using signal processing algorithms under PSD control. In the dissertation, we firstly investigate the principles of velocity-radar measurement. Secondly, the design and implement scheme of hardware system is accomplished. Finally, we accomplish the software design and programme of the system, and analyze the system error and propose the improving methods for compensating the error. Experiments and computer simulations show that the proposed digital signal processing system has good performance and achieves our demands.
