Most traditional storage systems use centralized architecture as their main organization and the servers in these systems are used to provide the storage services for the customers, these storage applications contain many problems such as difficult to management, with the high dependency on storage hardware and so on. In the consideration of these problems, the researches of virtual storage have been done in the resent years. The Virtual Storage makes the management easier makes the costs of storage cheaper, strengths the compatibility and the ability of maintenance and provides a variety of storage services by virtualising the masses of storage, the devices of network and the hosts of the system.This paper is the research about host level virtual storage which proposes the conception of the intelligent host level virtual storage based on the traditional research experience. The paper also proposes an architecture of distribute virtual storage (DVSA) which depicts the completely solution and the design of host level virtual storage. DVSA classifies the host nodes of a system into three types: Client, Agent and Manager, and uses the distribute hash table technology to organize these nodes into a two layers circle topology. DVSA designs a node priority selection algorithm (NPSA) which is used for the allocation and management of the storage resource. DVSA proposes the storage pattern based replica management solution in the logic level, and gives out an application of the architecture which is known as "RayStorage Virtual File Storage System", a variety of tests has been done on the RayStroage system.
