The Application Of Data Warehouse Technology In The Communications Industry

Along with the development of the computer technology, many enterprises have accumulated plenty of management data. How to reasonably assemble these data and how to scientifically analyse and explore their potential values is a significant topic in both theory and practice.In this paper, we analyse the current situations of data warehouse in telecommunications industry at home and abroad, examine the presence of various service systems in Shandong Communications, describe in details the current major data sources, service type structure, tariff type structure, call type structure and regional type structure, and form the service demands for management analytical system. In this system we use data warehouse technology and OLAP technology. Data warehouse technology solves the problems of structure and storage of historical data whereas OLAP provides the methods of analysing plenty of data.The management analytical system is a complicated system. In this paper, we design in details the organisation structure and system structure of the management analytical system, depict the information stream, and establish the data models of the management analytical system which is based on the star-type model.In this paper, we analyse and design the indicators of the system in terms of customers, turnover and income, study and figure out the dimension system in terms of natural attributes, customer attributes, behaviour attributes, service attributes and tariff attributes, set out the topics of Shandong Communications management analytical system, and analyse in details the service models, such as customer information analysis topic, service turnover and profit analysis topic and product analysis topic. All this directs the development of management analytical system.In this topic, we analyse and realise the application of data warehouse technology in the management analytical system, and explain the function of this system and benefits for the enterprise through some cases, such as customer structure analysis, turnover switch analysis and product analysis. The development of the management analytical system based ondata warehouse technology proves that data warehouse technology is an effective scheme in the data compression application system. It provides an effective way to analyse data, mine data, and display data, and solves well the structure of historical data.
