System simulation is a significant research field in embedded system. System simulation tools help to shorten the development cycle of embedded softwares. In different development phases. System simulation tools have different applications. Operation system simulator shields traits of hardware and lets programmers develop and debug applications quickly and conveniently in familiar platform. This is very significant for the improvement of the development efficiency of a great deal of embedded application. This paper first briefly depicts the development and application states of embedded system and embedded operation system, then introduces the ITRON which is a specification of embedded operation system and the basic structure of real-time embedded operation system. ITRON has very widely use in Japan. The simulation environment in this thesis is based on the ITRON specification. The above provides gist and theory foundation for the thesis"s further evolving. The thesis synthesizes the confinement of Windows API programming and the design request of the ITRON simulation environment. On this foundation, it analyzes the reasonable system design project. Then it expatiates upon constitution and implementation of the simulation environment based on u ITRON4.0 specification in Win2000, and discusses the implementation details from the following aspects: task management, synchronization, interrupt management, memory management, etc. It also confirms the simulation environment using application examples. On this foundation, it introduces the framework of VOOM.Finally, according to realization state of the whole system, the thesis analyzes the deficiency of the simulation environment and VOOM framework and points out the direction of future work.
