JMASE (Joint Modeling and Simulation Environment) is an environment for modeling and simulations. It is used to build digital system models and simulations at engineering and engagement level for testing and analysis. JMASE provides a suite of tools and a set of services to assist and simplify model development, which promotes the development and reuse of models and simulations. As the standard of JMASE is not accepted widely, it is difficult for JMASE models to interoperate with other simulations. Being a standard for modeling and simulations, HLA provides a standard interface specification for utilizing JMASE models in other simulation systems.Begin with the characteristics and functions of JMASE as well as the interface specification of HLA, this thesis has studied the theory of the interconnection between JMASE and HLA, especially the communication and time synchronization. Based on the scheduling service and the journaling service provided by JMASE, we develop a JMASE-HLA framework and detail its design approach. This thesis illustrates how to develop federates using the framework through an example and validates the efficiency and correctness of the framework through interconnection tests. It also analyzes the performance and applicability of the framework. The JMASE-HLA framework allows JMASE simulations to be used as a JMASE federate to exchange data with other federates without changing JMASE models, which promotes the reuse and interoperability of JMASE models.
