In the last decade, FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) had gone through a rapid development and had entered into the Digital Signal Processing filed, espials in Real-Time Video Processing. The research of Xilinx showed that there's a 50% growth in the output of FPGA that had been used in DSP in 2000; but the DSP device only get 40% increasing. By the power of incomparable parallel processing ability, more and more Digital Image Processing applications using FPGA to implement. Both China and the other country have transferred their Digital Image Processing Application into FPGA platform. Contrast to Programmable DSP Device, FPGA maybe occupy the front-part's application such as sensors in the future, otherwise, the DSP will mainly be used in complex algorithm. Probably say that FPGA technology is a great landmark in Digital Signal Processing.Professor Zheng proposed the conjugate image scheme approach in the early 1990s. This scheme uses meta-shape based technology, such meta-shape technology features in geometric and topologic proprieties and a variety of shape-based filters on grayscale image can be developed based on these two features. This kind of algorithm process digital image in space domain and only involve in fewer arithmetic operation. The main advantage of the algorithm is simply, rapid, effective and easily implemented by hardware.In the other hand, the micro-vision,, infrared, and X-ray image sensors have been used in military, science research, medicine, industry in a large scale recently, but there's some intrinsic disadvantage cause by the sensor's physical feature and it made the vision effect not be satisfied with human eye. It is necessary to process the image to make the image easier been observed and been identified by computer before output.Through the experiment in last decade, we find it is excellent to processthe micro-vision image using conjugate image scheme.This thesis mainly about how to implement the conjugate image scheme on FPGA. Firstly, we compare some commonly used algorithm to conjugate image scheme in Matlab environment. Secondly, the thesis studies the basic principle of the implementing DSP algorithm using FPGA, and wrjtes the core of conjugate image scheme in VHDL based on this study. Using the electric board of video processing, the effect been really verified. Moreover, how to sample the CVBS video and how to encode/decode the ITU656 video stream were discussed in detail.
