The advent of ubiquitous computing and the proliferation of portable computing devices have raised the importance of mobile and wireless networking. In the context of these systems, mobile ad hoc networks have appeared with specific configurations. There are also problems about quality of service in the Ad Hoc network. For this purpose, there is a need for new routing protocols which adapt to the dynamic topology and support the quality of service. At first this paper introduces the concept, characteristics and routings of the ad hoc network. The most important characteristics of ad hoc networks are: a time-varying topology, and unpredictable wireless medium and a vulnerable physical security. Three classes are distinguished based on the strategy: reactive protocols, proactive protocols and hybrid protocols. Then we introduce the routing algorithms and QoS routing algorithms, and we analysis the difficulties of supporting QoS in the ad hoc networks. Next in this paper is most important. First we do a deep analysis on dynamic source routing (DSR) in the ad hoc network. We introduce the process of the routing and the format of the packet head. Also we find some problems about supporting QoS in DSR. Then we extend the DSR protocol. We propose a new on-demand QoS-aware routing protocol, named Multi-Object QoS Source Routing (MOQSR). We introduce the process of the MOQSR and the format of the packet head. At last we simulate the MOQSR and analysis the results.
