In our future information age the communication network should be developed into high-speed,wide-band and long-distance optical fiber communication systems with huge capacity,which will meet with the multi-functional communication need. As the most widely used method in the backbone communication networks,dense wavelength division multiplexing technology and optical fiber amplifiers technology have made very remarkable progress and greatly enhance the transmission speed. Especialy the Fiber Raman Amplifier technology attract most people's interest, because it possesses the very wider band, online amplified signal and lower noise index. As far as it goes the Fiber Raman Amplifiers has unique advantages in the seabed optical fiber communication acrossing seas and exceeded long-distance optical fiber communication as well as in case of developed the whole fiber low depletion window. The Fiber Raman amplifiers are the sole amplifier which can be competent. More and more people pay attention to fiber Raman amplifier and research on it. This paper studies on the non-linear effects of FRA and the dispersion compensation and the pump noise of FRA in high speed WDM systems,at the same time on what effects these characters of FRA bring in. In chapter 2,the theory and characteristics of fiber Raman amplifiers are introduced firstly. On the base of it,the theory model of fiber Raman amplifiers including power analysis model and field analysis model is based. Then the Raman gain spectrum,the fiber loss spectrum and the fiber dispersion spectrum which will be used in the future research are simulated. Finally some photonic design automation simulation software and the simulation platform mainly used in this work——VPITranmissionmaker are introduced. In chapter 3, from the point of dispersion, Through numerical simulation the effect of the different dispersion compension schemes in WDM systems based on FRA are studied depending on the PTDS software .It is analyzed that the different place site of dispersion compensation fiber and dispension compension degree will introduce the different effects on the system performance. During the simulation ,the best scheme of dispersion compensation is choosed in two scenarioes : one is that the DCF dispersion index is default ,and the other is that the length of DCF is default.
