MMS is the Multimedia Messaging System. It is the evolution of SMS, and is the next generation upgrade for SMS in 3G. It allows users to send and receive messages like PowerPoint-style presentations. It is a new standards from WAP Forum and 3GPP . In order to carry out the MMS business, Value Adder Services Provider (VASP) should be familiar with the MM7 protocol, the interface protocol between the MMSC and the VASP, so that it could communicate with MMSC through MM7 protocol. The China Mobile just provided MM7 API to realize the fast development for VASP client. However, MM7 API is based on java, it needs VASP to use java to carry out the development, this restricts the development tools and language. To solve the above problem, it needs a new communication approach. This paper focuses on the above question. It first discussed the architecture of MMS System, and MM7 protocol, and then designs a secondary platform of MMS. The secondary platform of MMS locates between the MMSC and the VASP layer. VASP can use familiar program language to develop client and use sample protocol to communicate with MMSC and easy carry out MMS based on this platform.The client developer will concentrate upon business and business's development.So it will promote MMS 's development The secondary platform is designed on windows2000+jdk1.4.0,it can implement authentication, custom definition message protocol, and protocol translation, etc. It uses OOP idea in programming, UML tool in modeling, java language in developing the program. At last the paper use MMSC Simulation (MMSC simulation software) to complete the test.
