Mgcp Media Gateway Design And Realization

Since 1990s, with the great breakthrough in fiber communicationtechnology and development of VoIP technology, Inosculation of thetelecommunication networks and computer networks is the mainstream,and thepacket networks based on IP is thought as the future of communicationnetworks. In view of market demand, invest and technology, people areworking hard on research of communication. Recently , through the researchand argumentation, soft switch is looked as the evolvement of Next GenerationNetwork. Soft switch is different from the special technology, and it is theintegration technology on evolution of communication networks, includingaccess network techs, core network ones, switched circuit network ones,packet-switch ones and so on. MGCP described in the paper is one ofimportant interfaces/protocols in Soft switch system, and Media gateway onMGCP is one of the core components of Soft switch networks.Firstly, Softswitch is introduced on background, architecture, interfacesand protocols. Then, two important protocols are described, and one is MediaGateway Control Protocol and another is Session Description Protocol.The following of paper focuses on design and implementation of mediagateway based on MGCP. It is conformed to the MGCPv1.0 and relevantnational standards, providing interoperability. Its duties are translation ofmedia format and transport of media data. In addition to this, it has threemethods on configuration and management including WEB, SHELL and SNMP.Firstly , according to the fuction demands, the whole design of MG system isgiven and each sub-moudule is detailly described on function and interface.Secondly, the detail designs of MS module and MGCP one are appended. Theimplementation is following, and at last we sum up the works and put forwardsome advices.
