In the attractive, future, digital life of mankind, which is saw by both"Ubiquitous Computing"advocated by IBM and "Seamless Computing"advocated by Microsoft respectively, the network is playing an important role, and making a general survey of the evolution trend of the network, it just cater tothe needing of such bright prospect. Nowadays, Next Generation Network, whichtakes SoftSwitch as the kernel and combines variable types of networks, becomesinexorable trend. In this compatible network environment, users realy can enjoy"Seamless Roaming"and "Pervasive Communication". And SIP is playing amore and more important role in this great network that merges.SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is a kind of IP Phone Signalling Protocolthat is put forward by IETF. The purpose of SIP is to help to provid the advancedtelephon service over Internet, solve Signnaling control in IP network andcommunicate with SoftSwitch, thus form the value-added service platform ofNGN in order to offer better value-added service to communications, bank, andfinance and so on.The JAIN (Java API for Integrated Networks) initiative has defined a set ofJava technology APIs that enable the rapid development of Java based nextgeneration communications products and services. The Java APIs definedthrough the JAIN initiative bring service portability, network independence, andopen development to telephony, data and wireless communications networks. Byproviding a new level of abstraction and associated Java interfaces for servicecreation across Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), packet (e.g.Internet Protocol (IP) or Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM)) and wirelessnetworks, JAIN technology enables the integration of Internet and IntelligentNetwork (IN) protocols. The JAIN initiative takes thetelecommunications/Internet market from many proprietary closed systems to asingle open environment. In this open network architecture, a large variety ofnew services can be rapidly created and deployed.JAIN-SIP is a Java-standard interface to a SIP signaling stack, and itstandardizes the interface to the stack. It is designed for the developer who...
