Passive location of emitter source has been playing an important role in navigation, aviation, aerospace and electronic warfare. The double-satellite passive location system is suitable and valid for our situation and has a broad prospect of application due to its less receive platform, longer range and better concealment. This dissertation studies the theory and algorithm of double-satellite passive location system, which is based on time-delay of arrival (TDOA) and frequency-delay of arrival (FDOA) location technology. The main contents are as following. The first chapter is brief introduction to passive location of its backgrounds, present states and importance. It makes clear that the double-satellite passive location system has academic signification and practical applications. The theory and algorithm of double-satellite passive location system are studies in chapter 2. Its location performance is analyzed by the Geometric Dilution of Precision (GDOP). In chapter 3, the estimation of TDOA/FDOA based on higher order cumulant is studied. The algorithms of second-order and fourth-order cumulant used to estimate TDOA and FDOA simultaneously are derived out. The computer simulation results shows the fourth-order cumulant is valid and feasible. Chapter 4 is contributed to the calculation problem of longitude and latitude about surface target. The general calculation formula is given out and its calculation error is analyzed briefly. Finally, an overview of author's work and the prospect of double-satellite passive location system are presented.
