SMSP (Switch Mode Power Supply) is named as high efficient energy conservative power supply, which represents the orientation of steady voltage supply, and becomes the staple product. The internal modular in switch mode power supply operates at a high frequency, so its equivalent impedance is very small; it consumes very little energy with large current flowing through; that the power efficiency can reach 70% ~ 90%, nearly double that of normal ones. The power management ICs used in domestic whole power system manufactures are all imported from foreign companies, who deprive most of the profit. Little breakthrough will be made with confined technology, so it's very important to develop the power management ICs with own intellectual property. This subject has adopted forward design methodology as the main approach with the aid of backward design, optimized the circuit structure and parameters, and successfully designed a DC-DC down voltage IC, after fully analyzed the associated knowledge and circuit structure of DC-DC power IC and considered the domestic productivity. It was successfully taped-out at the first time with each indicator and parameter meets the design goal, so it's a successful power management IC with own intellectual property. In the design procedure, I am responsible for the design and simulation of reference voltage element and oscillator; I have also analyzed and simulated the mode select device, error comparator, logic circuit, protect circuit and power transistor conscientiously. In the circuit design, the low power of IC and stability of modules are the emphasis and difficult steps. Test of taped chip has proven the solutions to these problems successful.
