With the wide appliccition of the network and computer, the development of digital image processing technology becomes more and more important. In recent years, people apply various kinds of new mathematics tools to the image processing field, and have made a lot of helpful achievements. The grey system theory has found extensive application in a lot of fields with its convenient and effective modeling method, but rare in the field of image processing. How to combine grey theory and digital image processing technology together and develop a kind of new image process method, it is a question that is worth probing into.This paper has studied the application that the grey prediction models are in digital image processing. We have studied the basic characteristic of the digital image and the basic thoughts of some processing methods and the basic thought of the grey system theory and some important definitions and theorems at first. Then we introduced the digital image processing method based on the grey prediction model, including the lossless compressing method based on the grey prediction model, the non- linear image filter design method based on the grey prediction model. Finally, we are the first that presented the image edge detection based on grey prediction model. These methods have been proved that are effective from theory and simulation result.
