In this thesis of embedded system are analyzed at first. Developing condition and common structure of Handheld PC (H/PC), which is one branch of embedded system, are presented.And then conceptions and characteristics of embedded operating system are interpreted. Some familiar embedded operating systems are compared and their individual features are summarized. In succession, general structure of embedded operating system is analyzed.A solution of prototype based on ARM kernel is given next. And then hardware platform structure of this prototype is analyzed. And then features and advantages of Windows CE.NET compared with some other embedded operating systems are explained in detail. The reason choosing Windows CE.NET in designing the prototype is explained clearly. Based on the hardware architecture of the prototype H/PC, common transplanting solution of Windows CE.NET is presented in brief.In succession, developing journey about Windows CE is reviewed, and architecture of Windows CE.NET is analyzed, and Platform Builder, developing environment of Windows CE.NET, is introduced. And then transplanting procedure is explained in detail. The theory of building a Windows CE.NET operating system image is analyzed systematically. And the four factors, which consist of Windows CE.NET Board Support Package, are anatomized deeply. And the methods of compiling catalog file and configuring operating system image kernel are interpreted. And then How to export software development kit of Windows CE.NET operating system image is introduced briefly.Finally, the tailoring mechanism and customizing of operating system are implemented under CEPC environment concretely, and the emulation environment about Windows CE.NET based-on x86 PC is been constructed successfully. And debugging technologies of ARM microprocessor are presented. Finally debugging the embedded system, based-on ARM processor, is also discussed.
