China Telecom has taken out a market potential service: Short Message Service. This service can make those who use stationary telephone send and receive short messages. This dissertation probes into the designation and realization methods of Short Message Telephone(SMT) which based on EPSON microprocessor and UC/OS-II embedded real time operation system.Firstly, this dissertation demonstrates the function of SMT, points out the difference between it and normal telephone. Then analyses the principle and realization of how the SMT receiving and sending short messages. Based on this analysis, sets down the software and hardware design scheme of the SMT.Then this dissertation narrates the hardware design scheme of the SMT amply. The EPSON microchip E0C88104 is selected as the central processor unit, and all parts were designed as modules including the disposal of phone and data, display of LCD, keyboard circuit and so on. In some modules, there are also some software introductions of the corresponding hardware.The next Part of the dissertation is the software designation of the SMT. This part includes the migration of the UC/OS-II operation system, the realization of each function of the SMT and man-machine interface, and the input methods of the telephone.At the end of the dissertation, work progress and the problems which can be improved are pointed out.
