ATM switch is the core of ATM switching networks. The ATM switching networks can be managed and maintained more flexibly by using embedded man-machine interface. Because of the limitations of the embedded system, the interface's management functions must be decompounded. It is difficult to organize menu structure and deal with real-time messages during the design process of man-machine interface. According to the user's requirements, this paper describes the software design of the man-machine interface with structural design method, and describes the realization of the interface software in six major parts: drawing table, message intercourse, obtaining key value, screen protection function, password management and online help function. Finally, this paper describes the function test for the interface software. This embedded man-machine interface reaches the user's requirements on real time,security and scalability, and it has some practical value.
