The development of GIS(Geography Information System) improved the visual and digital information automation of geography, but the using is usually limited in LAN. Internet provided a new carrier of geography information, which is researched popularly now. LIS(Logistic Information System) is coming through the change from data management to decision support. The integration of GIS and LIS fulfill the requirement of material flow, so "Web GIS based logistic distribution optimization system" is build to implement the integration."Web GIS based logistic distribution optimization system" is made up of digital terminal equipment, communication network, relation database, GIS module and sustain software according as logistic enterprise's requirement of information collection, management, storage and analyse. The system solved many problems such as how to collect and share logistics data from Internet, how to exhibit dynamic graphics information by GIS technology directly, how to implement optimization arithmetic efficiently on web platform, and so on.This article includes eight chapters and involves four aspects about the system mentioned above. In the first section, the concepts, principles, and new developments of GIS and LIS are introduced, then the performance of existing system is analyzed, and the feasible improvement is discussed. In the second one, on the basis of requirement analysis of a typical logistic enterprise, a detailed system design is put up, and the solution project is brought forward. In the third one, the difficulties of the project is researched specially and technical course is confirmed. Finally, the process of development and the application of pivotal technologies are described in detail, then the system's behavior is valued and foreground of progress is expatiated. The later result improves that it is possible and proper to manage logistics distribution and optimization through Web GIS, and those problems above are solved successfully.
