In this paper, a high-speed digital image processing system based on DSP is introduced. The system is designed to improve the speed of image processing and recognition of the numeral in image correctly.This paper detailed introduces the design from software and hardware. In software, a serious of methods is adopted in image processing and a new effective model matching method is brought out. In hardware, a total circuit is designed based on TMS320C6711 DSP under the requirement of high-speed and real-time.The first chapter of this paper introduces the development of DSP and the simple knowledge of digital image briefly. Chapter two presents the general information of DSP that will be used in design. Chapter three concentrates the software relation of image processing and recognition of the numeral. Chapter four introduces the hardware project of image processing. Chapter five shows the process of debug and simulating result by using CCS.The system is specialized in two aspects: one is high-speed of the devices and the code- optimization, the other lies in lower consumption and better cost-effective.
