With the development of the Ethernet technology and the increase of the throughput, the Ethernet switches have played more and more important role. The broadband instruments applied in our country have few sorts and high price. What's more ,the operation are complex and the data are easy to be lost , so we develop a 10M/100M auto-adaptive switch with 8 ports,which one port was embedded isolation function and was used to link to server terminal . In this paper, the system of data transmission and switch data based on Ethernet will be analyzed. The first chapter summarize the network,networked instruments and network switch . Then the system general design will be simply introduced .And then give the design project of it based on the system principle and function. There are some typical applications and describe the main study work and production in this chapter. In the second chapter, there will be the principle and performance of Ethernet Switch. And then the technology of VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) will be explained. The third chapter introduces the hardware design of the system. The hardware design and signal direction will be explained. At the end, the circuit diagram and function of all parts will be analyzed in detail. In the forth chapter, we will give the test condition of the performances and principles of the system, and then explain and give the result of running and debugging. In the last chapter, some achievements in this design will be summed up, and some advice about how to do this well will be give.
