Ethernet has become the first choice in various data business because of its obvious advantage of low-cost, agility, etc. At the same time, SDH control the telecom transmission for its core characteristics, such as synchronized duplication, standard optical interface and mighty management function. However, at present, they are two separated networks, between which the access speed is limited. The rapidly increasing needs for broadband make access network the bottle-neck of telecom network. To realize high-speed and reliable access,and to make the user take good use of backbone, the new high-speed access technique must be utilized. On the basis of China's actual condition, this subject does deep research on EOS ( Ethernet Over SDH) and designs EOS system to realize the high-speed transmission of Ethernet on SDH. The subject analyzes the characteristics of PPP(Point-to-Point Protocol ), LAPS (Link Access Procedure--SDH )and GFP(Generic Framing Procedure ) . Compared with other data encapsulation technique, GFP is more efficient, more reliable, and has higher using rate of system bandwidth. To adopt GFP protocol, EOS eliminates complicated protocol transition, and makes Ethernet expand to MAN/WAN, by which net function cost and complicacy have been greatly reduced. As a new kind of adaptation mechanism, GFP provides an efficient, expansible and unified mode for the joint of LAN and SAN, internet access and other data transmission. This subject adopts VC technique and Link Capacity Adjustment Scheme, which can guarantee the efficient adapt of transmission bandwidth and upper business bandwidth. In this case, the using rate of bandwidth was further raised. This is able to support multi-pathway transmission of broadband business (namely, different VC of use different transmission pathway), and realize the business protection when multi-pathway transmission. The project of putting forward a net of Spanning Tree excellent turn can resolve the problem caused by unsteady Spanning Tree work. In this research, the author studied the SNCP (Sub Network Connection Protection) thoroughly.
