Automated Fingerprint Identification System has been widely appliedin many fields. Fingerprint identification is the hot identificationtechnology using biology characteristic. Now days, the software on PC andsensors connected to PC with USB have been well developed. Howeverresearch of embeded based, especially DSP based, is just on schedule. Thealgorithm of PC may not valid in embedded system. So the implementationof Fingerprint Identification on DSP platform ,which is more flexiblethan PC based, is of great significant.In this paper, the development history and application background ofbiology characteristics identification technologies are discussed, and thedevelopments, applications and research status are also introduced. Aftergathering and classifying information, the key method of new fingerprintidentification methods and technologies are researched. Performance of thealgorithm and its application on Mobile handset are proved. The algorithmis properly optimized, and a fingerprint identification terminal based onDSP (Digital Signal Processor) is designed. The design process of thisterminal is presented, including the hardware design and the fingerprint'spreprocessing, binarization, thinning, center hunting, and so on. Test resultshows that the terminal may meet the requirement of identifyingfingerprints. Author participates in the whole project design, mainly dosome work in the software designing and the system's debugging andtesting. |
