In this paper we propose an Embedded USB Host system based on ARM.The system is composed of USB Driver, host controller driver, and user software. And it contained Mass Storage class protocol, FAT file system, etc. The system can read the data from flash disk, and then transfer them to PC via RS-232.Traditional, the design of USB is just to develop USB Slave, like flash disk. But in the USB system, the Slave can't launch and control the process of data transfer. So Slave will be no-good if it is divorced from Host. And nowadays, only the Personal Computer served as host, the discomfort is obvious. So, it is an urgent affair to develop an Embedded USB Host system to release the slave for PC.The Embedded USB Host system selects S3C44B0 to act as the CPU, and selects SL811HS to act as USB Host interface chip. The project of the system possesses the virtue of cheapness, speediness, etc. And from the point of the software, the system integrates USB Driver, USB host controller driver, and user software.According to the method introduced in this paper, we established the Embedded USB Host system successfully. But because of the complexity of the USB protocol, the system still has the shortage. We summarized and analyzed the reason at the ending of the paper.
