USB technology has been greatly improved from spec 1.1 to spec 2.0 since it came out in 1990s. It has been accepted by the users from all walks of life. With the extension of its applications, users expect USB to be embedded into other computer application systems to work in the situation without PC, especially in the moving data filed. USB system consists of USB host and USB device. The host is the center, by which almost all of bus activities are started. Thus, the USB host is the key point as to the implement of embbed USB systems.This dissertation is dedicated to the design and implement of USB host in the back ground of Seismic Data Acquisition System. One of the important considerations is to make the USB host a module which is capable of integrating easily with other application systems in place of traditional parallel interfaces and serial interfaces. The dissertation first introduces the mechanisem of the USB system, next presents a scheme of the embedded USB host system for Data Acquisition Systems, using C8051F021 MCU and SL811HS USB host/slave controller. And at last, it details the hardware design and software design.The dissertation provides a reference for other applications of USB technology and can be of help for the study of USB further.
