Minix Research And Transplant To Uclinux

Graphics User Interface (GUI) is an important part of embedded system. And it will give a great impetus to the interactive application performance of embedded system. The goal of this paper is to construct a GUI system based on the embedded Linux, and to provide a friendly graphics user interface for such embedded devices as Navigation System Embedded in Vehicles and Personal Data Assistant (PDA).We realized a simple system in this project named MiniX.The paper presents the basic concepts of embedded system and GUI, analyses the application requirements and significance of the project, and then gives some introductions and comparisons of the corresponding projects domestic and abroad, and constructs the GUI system by the means of holding down the X Windows. Then, there is a study of the technology related to MiniX, including architecture, display driver, multi-task supporting, application of Object-Oriented technology, window manager and desktop environment. Minix is divided into two parts:Client and Server, and this paper makes a particular introduction to these two parts.Based on the studies, the paper introduces the repotting the MiniX system on the uCLinux embedded environment. At last, the paper gives a summary of all the work, and puts forward the successive destination.
