Compared to wireline networks, wireless networks have higher removability, while they face the difficulty of bad wireless communication environment and limited spectrum resource. At the same time, people require more for wireless communication systems, expecting higher data rate, lower cost, and less energy. Under this background, Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology attracts much attention over the world. UWB is an important technology for indoor high rate wireless communications and now it is looked as one of the key technologies for the next generation wireless communication systems. This thesis is supported by China 863 High Technology project "Key technology of Ultra-Wideband wireless communications". Main scopes of this thesis include: channel estimation arithmetic and judgment arithmetic in both DSSS-BPSK-based UWB System and OFDM-based UWB System. This thesis consists of six chapters. Chapter one includes an introduction of research background, a brief introduction of UWB Technology, and a brief introduction of the two main research UWB systems: the UWB system based on DSSS-BPSK modulation and the UWB system based on OFDM modulation.Chapter two decrypts characteristics of the UWB channel.Chapter three introduces the UWB system based on DSSS-BPSK modulation. It contains the Rake receiver, and the channel estimation methods, and analyzes the simulation results. Chapter four introduces OFDM, including the basic principle, the structure, and the technology of interference resistance.Chapter five describes the UWB system based on OFDM modulation. It explicitly introduces the system structure, describes the channel estimation methods and judgment methods, analyzes the results of different methods, and does the corresponding simulations.Chapter six summarizes the whole thesis and outlines the future research directions.UWB technology has wide application foreground. It has the advantages of low power, high resolving rate, and high power spectrum utilization rate. It is a hot research and development area. This thesis partly researches the UWB receiver technology. We hope our work could be helpful for future research.
