Ultra-wideband (UWB) communication is a novel short-distance wireless communication technique. It must have a great influence on communication field with extreme wide bandwidth, low power spectral density (PSD), high data rate, low probability of intercept, high multipath resolution, and spectrum reuse et al. Rake receiver of UWB communication system plays the key role of the reception technology of UWB signal for the reason that it's low PSD, impacted by path loss, shadowing, especially multipath fading and so on.The key techniques of UWB communication, such as the design of spectrum schemes, the shaping and producing of pulse signals, modulation, multiple access techniques, synchronism and reception techniques, channel estimation and implementation of high sampling rate are introduced in the paper firstly. Then the UWB indoor channel model is set up and analyzed, and simulation of which are proposed. Simultaneously, the system model of Rake receiver is proposed and the influence of different path combined pattern on the performance of Rake receiver is analyzed. The BER performance of the Rake receiver is calculated for both equality and inequality of path mean weight in the condition of maximum signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) combined pattern. In the final, the performance of ARake, SRake and PRake receiver are theoretically analyzed for the modified S-V channel model. The analytical results are verified by computer simulations. As a result, it is deduced that how to select Rake receivers in the sparse channel model and dense channel model by the analysis of the simulation.
