With the rapid development of information appliance, network product, handleddevice and wireless device, the development of embedded application has become one of the most popular domain in computer industry. However, since the embedded software is tightly connected with the target hardware and the complexity of hardware platform and embedded application is becoming higher continually, the software development cycle is long, the development cost is expensive and the software quality is not guaranteed. The testing work take up most of the development cycle and the power of the testing tool is a key factor. It is a difficult problem to develop a testing tool which can shorten the testing time evidently. Since it don't need the supply of real hardware, the embedded simulation development is used more and more. In the embedded simulation development, the hardware environment is simulated by software. By make use of this characteristic, we can develop the testing tool which meet the need of embedded test for embedded simulation development.( hereinafter, it is called embedded simulation testing tool for short). This dissertation is devoted to show the research and practice on this subject, and has achieved several useful results.This paper first introduce the embedded system, analyze and compare the two development technique: cross development and simulation development, point out the value of simulation development. Outline the function and architecture of the IASDP. an embedded simulation development platform.This paper investigate the theory of embedded system test, points out the demand of the embedded system test for the test tool. And analyze the function and the realization principles of logic analyzer.Based on the analysis above, this paper brings out the design and implement of the embedded simulation testing tool, software logic analyzer, SimLA. Introduces and analyses the design and implement of LAAgent and SimLAGUI and the main data structure, important method, function process of every sub-module. At last, this paper shows an example for test and verification of the SimLA.
