With the wide use of AutoCAD in architecture design, many larger projects need more designers participating in to accomplish the task together. The elder single-user version of AutoCAD couldn't satisfy the designer's requirements. When designing designers need communication each other and share the resource, for fear to make data inconsistent and repeated design. Computer Support Cooperative Work (CSCW) can resolve the problem effectively. CSCW means that in the computer environment, groups of people cooperatively finish a job. Integrating AutoCAD with CSCW technologies in Architectural Design can develop computer support cooperative design systems and enhance work efficiency.This research focuses on the application of CSCW in design. By sufficiently comprehend the process of design, we apply CSCW technology to architecture design. We presents a architecture cooperative design system based on software component, and discussed the system structure and some key technology of it in details, which based on software component and other more technology in CSCW. The main research work and achievements are as follows:1 The workflow management in cooperative design systems. According to the characteristics of architecture cooperative design, combining the advantage of statechart and Agent technology, we proposed a workflow management model based on statechart (WFMBS) and a manage method with Agent. Then discussed its key technology and demonstrate its application in the workflow management of cooperative architecture design.2 The synchronization cooperative design system of an architecture design. Based on the characteristics of AutoCAD, we proposed a method to use the database of CAD itself. We use the data of the file as the data of transfer in the synchronization cooperative design. Using it can reduce the amount of data transferred through the Web and improve the rate of transfer.3 Aiming to meet the higher demands for used by collaboration design systems in the architecture design domain, we proposed an graphic component database management system supporting cooperative work based on the technology of software component. Furthermore, it gives evaluation for the components in graphic component database and relativity in recombination of graphic components according tocharacteristic of architecture design.
