The diode with a ferroelectric cathode is a new type of electrons bundle fountain. This paper investigates mostly on the emission characteristic of the diode from the view of the theoretic analysis and the experiment on the PLZT samples.In this paper, by the theoretic analysis, the writer gets some conclusions as fellows:1. The electron emission from the diode is the result of polarization switching of the ferroelectric cathode. Its emitted competence is proportional to E3 ,here the E is piont to the polarization electric field.For emitted electrons, there not only come from polarization switching, but also maybe come from plasma emission, if the polarization electric field is intense enoughly.2.The diode current is depend on the polarization electric field and the accelerated voltage.The deterioration of the vacuums is not reduce the cathode emitted ability. The emittance is decided by the initial energy of the emitted electrons and the cathode affective emitted radius.3.The internal bias field came from the donator impurity will improve the imitation of the cathode and decide the polarity used polarization pulse.The thickness should be more 1mm, if we want to reduce the affection the fence electrode on the surface electric filed. The polarity PW and the switching relaxation will influent on the switching current too.Besides,by the emission experiment, this paper gets some conclusions as fellows:1. That the cathode emitted competence is proportional to E3 .When the polaring electric field is up to 1.7kV/mm, the plasma emission exict, the field emission is inexistence.2.If the polaring electric is more than 1.6kV/mm, the currnt is space charge limited current,the modification of the Child-Langmiur's law is right .The change of the vaccum from 1.2x10-3 Pa to 6.7x10-1Pa is not influnence the electrons emission from the diode.3.The positive polarity pulse will make better result for the samples than use negative polarity pulse. The surface damnification of the cathode is lighter, if the the fence electrodes is compacter. The emitted competence is highter,the cathode is thicker. The current density is biggest if the PW is scale from 100ns to 250ns, when the PW is variable.In a word, the result of the theoretic analysis accord with the phenomenon of the experiment on the PLZT samples. What indicates this paper can pray a way for the continual investigation on the diode with a ferroelectric cathode.
