Motion compensation plays a key role in imaging algorithm of inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR), which is the issue of the thesis. Firstly we introduce the theory of ISAR imaging and the method of simulation, and we research the two steps (range alignment and phase compensation) of the motion compensation respectively in detail. In the research, we introduce some methods and their improved methods that are discussed in current literature and give some improvement on some methods at the same time. From the simulation results of practical data, we can see that these methods can improve the imaging quality of ISAR effectively.Then, we make a detailed research on motion compensation of maneuvering target and targets with moving parts, and introduce some algorithms. The results of simulation prove the validity of these algorithms.At the end of the thesis, we study the motion compensation of high-speed targets and put forward two algorithms that based on Modified Discrete Chirp-Fourier Transform (MDCFT) and Discrete Match Fourier Transform (DMFT). And satisfactory simulation images are got at last.
