Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) imaging is an important breakthrough in the field of modern radar technique, it is very practicable to not only military but also civilian use. The translational motion compensation is a key technique in inverse synthetic aperture radar imaging, The translational motion compensation includes two steps which are range alignment and phase compensation. This dissertation summarizes some general range alignment and phase compensation ways and researches the motion compensation based on image cost function, moreover experimental data and simulation are sued to prove this method. In order to improve image, this dissertation discusses the imaging when the target does a constant acceleratively rotating and study rational compensation when target moves uniformly rectilinearly. These methods are proved availably through experimental data and simulation, the quality of the image of the experimental and simulation data is evidently improved through rotational compensation.
