Wavelet analysis and Fourier analysis are both important mathematical tools in the fields of image processing and computer vision and their application cover almost all aspects of these fields. This paper starts by briefly describing basic theories of Fourier transform and wavelet transform. In particular, interpretations of these theories how to apply to image processing are provided. Next, this paper presents several applications of these theories in image compression, remote sensing images de-noising, edge detection and MR image processing. They include: 1 a wavelet image coding method based on double code streams RLC and arithmetic coding; 2 a method of removing striping noise based on Fourier Transform and Its expansion to tagged MR images processing. 3 an algorithm based on wavelet coefficients direction for de-noising SPOT images. 4 research on wavelet multi-scale edge detection and a wavelet image force for snake algorithm. |
