This dissertation is mainly on the research of S-band multichip module (MCM) 4-bit digital phase shifter and switch section.As we all know, digital phase shifter is the necessary key component of phased-radar. Relative to the classic radar, it has little volume, light weight, high accuracy test, quick reaction, low power consumption, broad coverage and other advantage. There is close restraint on the T/R section's size dimension and weight, which is the key component of phase-array radar. Therefore, there is the requirement of development to make the little volume, light weight, low cost, high performance T/R section. With the widespread availability in space-borne radar system and airborne radar system of the phase-array radar, the research on which became an active demand. The digital phase shifter is the most important component of T/R section. Multichip module technology(MCM) is the optimal way of providing circuit system miniaturization.Then there is practice purpose with the research about the topic.In chapter 1, the microwave planar integrated circuits and its development, and the meaning of the research on MCM digital phase shifter are dissertated. Then, the trend of MCM in home and abroad are introduced. In the last, researchful content and technical requirements are presented briefly.Chapter 2 discusses the basic theory of MCM, including the definition of MCM, MCM types and structures, the advantage of MCM technology and MCM's key technology.Chapter 3 dissertates the work principle of several microstrip digital phase shifter respectively, and describes their characteristics.Chapter 4 dissertates the work principle of Single-Pole Single-Throw (SPST) PIN switch and Single-Pole Double-Throw (SPDT) PIN switch respectively.Chapter 5 discusses the design and test of S-band multichip module (MCM) 4-bit digital phase shifter and switch section ,including five sections. The first section describes the design and test of spiral inductors integrated in MCM-D and the extraction of their equivalent circuit models, and analyses the relation between the quality factors (Q) and inductor geometry. In the second section, the equivalent circuit models of PIN diode are analysed , then, switch-line phase shifter is analysed theoretically and calculated. Section three is the design of bias circuit. Section four is the design and test of cross-coupled line. Section five describes the design and measure of the whole digital phase shifter and switch section.Chapter 6 summarizes the above work.
