The article first describes why GPRS is necessary and about the status of GPRS mobile phone, introduces the purpose of developing it. Then, summarizes the GSM system, the structure of network, the wireless technology, the coding and modulation of GSM. One type of handset is taken as an example to introduce the signal flow. Then, explains the design bottleneck of handset is RF design. Discusses all parts of RF design in handset. About the architecture, performance, merit, shortcoming and the solution of transmitter and receiver for Transceiver, has been discussed detail by detail. And introduce the signal flow with the examples.Then discusses the design's method of PLL frequence synthesizer. It includes the design of LPF,VCO's parameters and crystal.About the PAM, discuss the design's performance, and the power controlling mode,the method of design PAM and measurement,then is about the PAM's calibrating arithmetic . Taken one handset that has finished as example to analyze the RF performance, summarize the problem and solution. Then,analyzes the EMC latency factor,give some advice for EMC design, conduct interfere and spurious emission,and advise some important factors for antenna and PCB Layout. Last, simply introduce the trend of the RF of Transceiver and mobile phone. The article combines the theory and practice, discusses the GSM handset RF circuit's parameters and the factors which affect the performance, and the solution for them,and discusses detailly about EMC's design. So it useful for designing GSM handset.
