ATM is the newly developing technique to support the broadband business, characterizing by end to end guarantee, perfect flux plan, jam control, flexible allocation and management of the dynamic broadband. A great deal of network dealers adopt ATM as the broadband net platform . Henan telecommunication has devoted immense amount of money to build local ATM network as well. Traditional telecommunication dealers used to develop different types of networks. Whereas confronted with ceaselessly emerged new business, traditional telecommunication dealers are supposed to not only place weight on protection of existed network investments in the evolution of the trade, but also not let stagnation to block their way to be more competitive ones. As to Henan telecommunication, such a traditional dealer, how to make full use of ATM network and decrease the running expenses are worthy of profound consideration and research. With the purpose of research of ATM's support ability to IP and circuit emulation business, this thesis begins with the background of its birth and technique merits, and elaborates the classification of broadband multimedia business as well as ATM's various supplementary business as CBR, ABR, VBR and UBR .It also introduces the ATM facility status, network organizations and overseas business of the province, regarding the best dealers as the concise research objects, following the network data from April 11,2002 to June 18, gathering the relevant flux of ATM exchange machine, and classifying these connections into CBR, UBR and ABR according to the difference of the business. The thesis defines ATM's different characteristics like email flux describing symbol andQOS capability parameter and makes a detailed analysis of the network flux and connection capability by means of detailed processes on the data from 08:45 June 4* to 08:30 June 6th.
