Embedded system industry is continuously developing swiftly and violently in these years, which has been widely applied to many fields, such as mobile computing device, network device, industrial device, information appliances, automobile electronic, amusement establishment, apparatus and instruments, etc. In this background, we integrated embedded system and embedded Linux technology together and developed embedded portable color meter, based on MC68EZ328 microprocessor of Motorola Company and embedded uCLinux operating system, to meet the request of portable Real-time usage.This dissertation takes embedded portable color meter as final development target. According to the design principle of embedded system, we evaluated the development scheme of embedded portable instrument system and developed a development platform of embedded measuring and controlling system, which is made up of several independent function modules and can be easily cut out in hardware to fit the development requests of different measuring and controlling projects. On the side of hardware, we resolved the problems of designing development platform and expanding multi-SPl devices in embedded system. On the side of software, we conquered difficulties, such as the foundation of cross-compiling circumstance in uCLinux, board-plant and kernel configure of uCLinux, the research of system mechanism, the design of device drivers and applications based on GUI and so on. Aimed at the material request of embedded portable color meter, the development platform of embedded measuring and controlling system is acted according to actual circumstances in software and harware to get the portable instrument product meeting us. Now the development platform of embedded measuring and controlling system has been developed successfully and the embedded portable color meter has been basically completed. There are some important key points in the whole design of software and hardware, which can be continuously used in the following development of embedded system product. In this dissertation, we will introduce what has been done in this task in detail, with diagrams and material examples.
