Waste heat boiler is a multi-input and output system. The drum water level is the most important target in boiler's running. Because of the vary of heat resource, the water level in drum could not be controlled hrough the traditional three variable controlled way. In this thesis, dynamic characteristic of drum water level in the copper converter smelting process of 110 ton was discussed. Relationship between different disturbances was studied also. After the shortage analysis of traditional control scheme, a improved three variables control scheme had been presented. Additional, in this thesis had designed the firmware system to apply the control scheme, the running has showed that the control system could decrease the water level' flow, the steam' quality and quantity has increased at the same time. The application of this system had changed the waste heat boiler' running way, and increased the running efficient.The control system' firmware is designed by using PLC and computer communicate through Ethernet to apply the improved three variables control. GE, FANUC 90-30 series programmer logic controller was chosen to realize control request, and CITECT software is used to supervise the procedure. To increase the robust ability, a Fuzzy/Self Adaptive Fuzzy PID controller is used. The running result proves that, the control system' design in this thesis is efficient in the waste heat boiler' control, and has a more optimistic foreground to use it extend.
