This dissertation mainly studies the following three most important sections of the target recognition system: feature extraction, data fusion and target recognition, which is a part of the advanced research project named "MMW detection system of airdrome runway recognition" of national defense. Here the Passive/Active MMW combined detection system is used, because there are so many outstanding points in the MMW combined detection technology, such as perfect precision and the good ability to anti-jamming and anti-hiding and so on.Firstly, the frame of axes is set up to describe the situation when the aircraft crosses the runway at the different height and at the different angular degree. Then the form of the signal is gained respectively in either section according to the frame of axes, and the corresponding figures are simulated meanwhile.Secondly, the features of the signal are extracted. By using the algorithm of target recognition, the classification of the target is gotten in both passive/active sections.Finally, the algorithm of D-S technique is used to fuse the result of the target recognition of the passive/active section.
