As a new radar system, the inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) can get the moving-targets images, which has high range and azimuth resolution. The ISAR research has acquired great developments in the recent years, and furthermore it is gradually applied in the practical system soon.In this thesis the radar imaging algorithm and motion compensation to the spinning target is discussed particularly.Based on analysis of ISAR imaging theory in detail, the projection image plane is firstly built according to arithmetic imaging model. We can get ideal image, with which we are able to discuss the effects of the ISAR target image with spinning axis during integration time. Secondly, many motion compensation methods are compared and improved including range alignment and phase correction in order to satisfy various targets imaging conditions. A new method of range alignment with smaller step and Doppler centroid tracking using image evaluate function are presented, which can be used to reduce the influence of low correlation between two radar echoes efficaciously. In this case of precise motion compensation, the quality of ISAR image is improved obviously. Because of wide angle coherent process, Extended coherent processing are used to correct migration through resolution cell phenomenon.This thesis analyzes complex motion compensation algorithm about spin target. Besides simulation results illustrate that the algorithm advanced in this thesis is correct and effective.
