Deposit Er-doped and Yb/Er co-doped Al2O3 films by Medium Frequency Sputtering(MFS).Detect the influence on film character of oxygen flow and argon flow,different substrate,Yb/Er co-doped,dope concentration,anneal temperature,anneal time. Observe the surface topograph of films by SEM and AFM.Measure the thickness and refractive index of films.Analyse the light emitting theory of Er-doped Al2O3 films.Detect the photoluminescence(PL) of Er-doped Al2O3 and find(l)PL peak wavelength 1535nm of all the films and full width half maxmum(FWHM) between 40nm and 60nm.(2)The optimized Yb/Er concentration ratio is 9:l.(3)Different anneal temperature affect the microcosmic structure of films and PL intensity.(4)Yb as a sensitivity,not only improve the pump efficiency and enhance the PL intensity,but also decrease the ESA(Excited State Absorption),CUC(Cooperative UpConversion)of Er ions.Calculate the Er-doped and Yb/Er co-doped films fluorescence charactering by solving the Er and Yb/Er co-doped Al2O3 system's rate equation.Optimize the pump power and Yb/Er concentration. Compare the result with experiment.Curve the films into rectangle waveguide with BCl3 ions.Detect the gain 10.0dB at the 10uW square wave signal and pump power 160mW.Get 4.2dB gain per centimeter.Draw up the Amplifier character diagram and noise character diagram.PL,absorption spectrum and signal's net gain characteristic are measured with laser coupled tail fiber.The result indicate(1) Net gain increase with linear in the beginning and saturation gradually later along with the increasing of the pump power.(2)Optimize the Er-doped samples concentration and the pump power(3)The highest net gain 3.9dB is obtained from 0.8at.% Er-doped glass sample.
