Cobol,-2002 Integrated Development Environment

COBOL is COmmon Business-Oriented Language, which became a standard language in 1968. Currently,it is widely used in the fields of Industry, Business, Business Adminstation and etc; In 2002, the COBOL-2002 standard was introduced. An Integrated Development Environment based on COBOL-2002 is developed for COBOL developers to write/debug COBOL programs conveniently according to the COBOL-2002 standard and to maintain/improve the traditional COBOL programs simultaneously.The design objective, the system functions and the iplementation methods of a COBOL-2002 IDE is analysed and discussed in this thesis. The major work and productions are summarized as below:1) The software architecture of an IDE is analysed and the infrastructure of the server-side module is designed according to the top-to-bottom rule.2) The infrastructure of a remote debugger and the method of remote debugging is analysed and reasoned and the Back-End of the remote debugger is designed.3) The core modules of the WEBCOBOL system are studied. For better performance of the Java Applet Module, an efficient and general solution is put forward and implemented which greatly improved the compatibility of WEBCOBOL.The techniques involved in this thesis have been successfully applied in an international project.
